Formica Corporation received a Pillar Award for Community Service. They were honored on January 16 at Duke Convention Center. The 2019 Medical Mutual Pillar Awards for Community Service, presented by Smart Business, honored businesses of all types and sizes that make outstanding contributions to their community.
Formica was nominated by Susan Fraley, Principal of Central Elementary. Every summer, Formica holds a supply and donation drive for Central Elementary. The company donates a large amount of supplies, backpacks, and money to cover students’ needs. Formica communicates with Central to learn about its greatest needs then provide supplies that directly benefit Central’s classrooms, students, and teachers.
Formica’s support does not end there. The company continues to support teachers and students throughout the school year. They offer students the opportunity to experience college campuses by donating tickets to the University of Cincinnati events, creating great memories for our students and their families. Formica also directly volunteers at Central. The Young Professionals group has partnered with Central for an after-school STEM group to engage third, fourth, and fifth-grade students in science, engineering and math activities.
“Formica continues to reach out to find what ways they can help support our school. We are thankful for Formica’s continued support and willingness to help the school community in so many ways, “ said Central Principal Susan Fraley.
