Reading Board of Education hired Mr. Damon Davis as the new Principal of Reading Middle School at its regular Board meeting held on March 15, 2017. Mr. Davis will begin his new position effective August 1, 2017.
Mr. Davis is currently the Assistant Principal at Sycamore Junior High School. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Principal in the Forest Hills Local School District from 2012-2015. Mr. Davis was a classroom teacher for 12 years and began his teaching career in Cincinnati Public Schools. He has also taught at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy and Indian Hill Exempted Village School District.
Mr. Davis earned his Bachelor of Arts from Anderson University in Psychology and his Masters of Education from the University of Cincinnati. He received his Principal and Counseling Licensures from Xavier University and is now working on his Doctorate of Education in Leadership Studies at Xavier University.
The district had a total of 39 applicants for the Reading Middle School Principal opening. A team of administrators, teachers, and a middle school parent were part of the selection and interview committee. A group of middle school students also had a say in the selection of their new principal. The students spoke to all three of the finalists and recommended Mr. Davis.
“We are looking forward to Damon joining the Blue Devil family. We were impressed by his extensive background as a middle school teacher and administrator,” said Reading Superintendent, Chuck LaFata. “Damon is engaging and enthusiastic with strong leadership skills.”
Mr. Davis replaces current RMS Principal, Mr. Ian Frank, who resigned effective July 31, 2017.
