Reading High School Key Club leaders attended a Student Service Leadership conference at the University of Cincinnati in October with more than 600 students from the Cincinnati area. The eight Reading students attended individual workshops to learn more about service projects and network with other schools to share ideas. On October 5, nine more Key Club leaders attended the Red Ribbon Week Youth Summit held at the Cincinnati Zoo.
Reading Key Club members currently have plans for this school year to work with City Gospel Mission (Kicking Hunger), Prevention FIRST together with the Hamilton County Mental Health and Recovery Services (Red Ribbon Week), The Cincinnati Homeless Coalition (Shantytown), Cancer Free Kids (Night for the Fight) and a new project still in planning stages with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (celebrating the life of our very own Mr. Day!).
Key Club is an opportunity for any and all students. Members are not required to participate in all of the projects but can choose the projects that work with their schedules and have personal meaning. Students can see the Advisor, Mrs. Bemmes in the Guidance Office if they are interested in joining.
