 Dear Reading HS Families:
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL AND SCHEDULE PICK UP:
August is here and that means school will be starting soon! The first day of class is August 25. Our starting and ending times have changed. The high school will start at 7:20 am and end at 2:10 pm this year. Students will begin their day in homeroom at 7:20 am The school building will be open at 6:30 am and students are welcome to sit in the cafeteria until 7:20 am Breakfast will be served, beginning at 6:45 am.
Schedules can be picked up on August 19 and 20, 10 am to 2 pm in the cafeteria. School fees can be paid those days or parents can take advantage of our EZ Pay Online System that is on the district web page.
NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL:
The Jr High, grades 7th and 8th, will no longer be in our building. They are now part of the new Reading Middle School, grades 6, 7, and 8, and are housed in the top floor of Central Elementary. The additional rooms in our building will allow each teacher to have their own room. We will share five teachers with the Middle School: Mrs. Elsasser, Mrs. Fisher, Mr. Lunsford, Mrs. Jacobs, Ms. Campbell, and Mrs. Schmidt.
OPEN HOUSE:
On August 23, we will have our Open House from 6:45 to 7:45 pm. Please plan to attend to meet yours son or daughter’s teachers and tour the building. Also that night, prior to the open house, we will have a meeting for all parents whose children are involved in high school sports beginning at 6 pm in the media center. In addition, all families new to the district who have students in the high school are invited to an informational meeting that night beginning at 6:30 pm.
NEW STAFF:
I am pleased to introduce two new staff members to our building. Jennifer Dillingham, our new building secretary, is replacing Becky Davis who is moving to the Middle School. Jen brings a great deal of school office experience from the University of Cincinnati where she worked in the admissions office.
Katy Heller is our new technology teacher replacing Lee Roberts who retired. Katy is actually a Great Oaks teacher assigned to Reading High School. Katy has 5 years experience teaching within the Great Oaks System.
Sincerely,
Chuck LaFata
