Reading Mock Trial Teams Competes in International Competition

Wishing all the best to our Reading High School mock trial team as they head down to Atlanta. Our Blue Devil team was invited to compete in this exclusive International Empire Mock Trial tournament with some of the top teams in the country and the top teams from all over the world. The competition is set to run September 20–23.

In fact, Reading's mock trial team is 1 of just 4 teams selected to represent Ohio in Atlanta. This is quite an accomplishment considering there are more than 350 mock trial teams in Ohio!

Reading's team includes Erin Vaughn, Kylie Schmidt, Emily Turner, Lillie Turner, Haileigh Ballinger, Jakob Allen, Grace Longworth and Julie Thomas.

"I want to thank everyone for all of your support. You have made the dreams of 8 exceptional students, a reality," shared Andy Janig, RHS mock trial advisor.

RHS teacher John McClellan is also a co-advisor to the mock trial team.

"Our students have been working on a case twice the usual size with half the usual time. Every student competing is doubling up (the equivalent of playing both offense and defense in football) and thus has had to work... 2... 4.. 8 times as hard," Mr. McClellan said. "The students gave up their summer to do this. This isn't your usual mock trial competition; this is the best of the best."
