BOE and new Superintendent

On May 18, 2022, the Reading Board of Education approved Dr. Damon Davis as the next superintendent for the Reading Community City School District. Dr. Davis is currently the Director of Curriculum and Communications for Reading Schools.  He is slated to begin this new role on July 1, 2022, replacing Jason Enix, who was recently named Superintendent of Huber Heights.

“The Board believes that the next Superintendent needs to have a full understanding of why and how the strategic plan was developed, where we are as a district and the goals moving forward”, said Board President Beth Wernery.  “The Board of Education feels very strongly that Dr. Davis has this knowledge and experience to lead Reading Schools into the future”.

Davis has also served as principal of Reading Middle School for four years, assistant principal at Sycamore Junior High School for two years and assistant principal at Mercer Elementary for 3 years. Before his move to administration, he was a language arts math/science teacher in various 4th-8th grade assignments.

In 2021, Dr. Davis transitioned from being Reading Middle School Principal to Director of Curriculum and Communications. In this position, he provided leadership and oversight for district curriculum and supported many district and community level initiatives. He facilitated the curriculum map process including alignment of curriculum, materials, and resource selection for math adoption. He also oversees the development of the secondary program of studies and master schedule.

His experience and knowledge of the Reading community, students and staff will serve the district well.  “I am incredibly honored to continue serving the Reading Community City School District as their next superintendent. Our school district is at the heart of our community and built upon a foundation of tradition and excellence. I look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with our community, staff, and students while focusing on a culture of excellence across the district.  I am proud to be a Blue Devil.” Davis said.

Davis is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio.  He received his Bachelor of Science from Anderson University, Master of Science in Education from University of Cincinnati and Doctorate in Education from Xavier University. He and his wife Jenny have three children, and reside in Madeira.
