DeWine, Husted, and Dackin Visit Reading Schools

Today, we were honored with a visit from Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Director Stephen Dackin.  The visit underscores and highlights Reading School's commitment to excellence and innovation in education. Their visit brought invaluable attention to our district and culminated in an extraordinary announcement that promises to shape the future for our students and community.

The highlight of the visit was the announcement by Governor DeWine that Reading Schools will receive a Career Technical Education (CTE) grant of $1,962,000. This transformative grant will enable us to reconfigure existing spaces into innovation areas equipped with advanced manufacturing equipment and support for work-based learning. This investment in our future will give Reading students a competitive edge as they prepare for their careers, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to thrive in the modern workforce.

The visit also showcased the talent and potential of our students and faculty. Ben Kolb and his class demonstrated remarkable projects, impressing the Governor with their creativity and technical skills. The student leaders' engagement with the Governor and their ability to articulate their future aspirations highlighted the bright future that lies ahead for our students. Director Dackin noted our educators' work and dedication in literacy and math across elementary classrooms.

As we move forward, more details about the utilization of the CTE grant will be shared. This grant is not just a financial boost but a catalyst for innovation and growth in our district. It reaffirms our commitment to providing our students with a comprehensive education that equips them for the challenges and opportunities of the future.

We are immensely proud to serve a district that comes together to achieve great things. Today's achievements are a collective victory and we look forward to the exciting developments this grant will bring to our community.
