Reading, Ohio – October 16, 2024 – Reading Community City Schools is excited to announce its annual Career Readiness Day, took place on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. The event is designed to equip students with the skills, experiences, and knowledge necessary for their future career paths and personal growth.
Career Readiness Day includes a variety of activities for students from 8th to 12th grade, each tailored to their grade level to promote hands-on learning, professional exposure, and academic preparation.
8th Grade: Manufacturing Industry Tours
Eighth-grade students spent the day touring local manufacturing businesses to gain first-hand insights into potential career paths. The tours exposed students to cutting-edge technologies and career opportunities in the manufacturing sector.
9th Grade: Cincinnati State Tour
Ninth-grade students explored Cincinnati State Technical and Community College to learn more about post-secondary options. The tour provided students with the opportunity to explore academic programs, campus life, and career-focused education.
10th Grade: Pre-ACT Testing
Tenth-grade students took the Pre-ACT exam, an important step in college readiness and standardized testing preparation.
11th Grade: ASVAB Testing
Eleventh-grade students completed the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), a multi-aptitude test used to assess students’ skills and match them with potential career fields, both in civilian life and in military service.
12th Grade: Speed Mentoring with Industry Professionals
Seniors engaged in speed mentoring sessions with local industry professionals. This unique opportunity allows students to network and receive career advice in brief one-on-one conversations.
