From Moot Court, to Showcases to Gladiators, the Mock Trial program continues to grow. We have 30 students that now participate in learning about America’s Justice system and have been running year-round since about 2015. After an extremely successful invitational season, the mock trial team sent two teams to regionals and one to state this year. On Friday, May 2, Reading was one of 16 teams representing Ohio in the Moot Court State Championships. Competitors included Kaine Colvard, William Moeggenberg and James Wooten. Next Friday, the Middle School Mock Trial team will be competing in Ohio’s Statewide Showcase. Middle school competitors, coached by their upper class counterparts include Alyssa Morris, Brody Overbeck, Brooklyn Davis, Cale McLean, Camdyn Pitts, Grace Zander, Isaiah Ernst, Joseph Thompson, Katherine Clark, Milo Syravong, Nada Yousef and Vincent Van Dulman.
The action doesn’t end though when school recesses for the summer. For the first time in the program’s history, 3 Reading mockers will be participating in the exclusive Gladiator World Championships. This honor is by invite and application only and will feature some of the best high school mockers in the world. Representing our community this year will be juniors Cameron Millette, Kiersten Kleehamer and Mouhamadou Ndiaye. We can’t wait to see what they do next. The sky is the limit for these exceptional students!
