Reading Board of Education Dedicates Athletic Trophy Case in Honor of Richard Morgan

The Reading Community City School District proudly dedicated the athletic trophy case in honor of Richard Morgan during tonight’s Board of Education meeting, celebrating the lasting impact he made on Reading athletics, our school, and the entire Blue Devil community.

There was a wonderful turnout of Mr. Morgan’s family and friends, including his daughter Abby and sister Vivian, who joined district leaders, coaches, and community members to honor his legacy. The evening served as a meaningful tribute to a man whose voice and generosity became synonymous with Reading athletics.

Dr. Davis opened the event by welcoming everyone in attendance and reflecting on the tremendous influence Mr. Morgan had on Reading. Known to so many as the “Voice of the Blue Devils,” Mr. Morgan was more than an announcer, he was a passionate advocate for our student-athletes and programs. Dr. Davis spoke about Mr. Morgan’s unwavering support of all athletic teams, his generosity toward school initiatives, and his advocacy for projects that strengthened opportunities for students throughout the years.

Varsity Football Coach Luke Cripe also shared remarks, speaking to the powerful impact Mr. Morgan had on generations of athletes and teams. Coach Cripe reflected not only on Mr. Morgan’s support of the football program, but also on the personal impact he had on his own son, a testament to the way Mr. Morgan invested in students beyond the field of play.

The newly dedicated trophy case stands as a fitting tribute to Mr. Morgan’s legacy. It represents excellence, pride, and tradition, values he championed so faithfully. More importantly, it serves as a daily reminder to our students, staff, and community of the impact we can have when we lead with generosity, support worthy causes, and commit ourselves to uplifting those around us, like Mr. Morgan did.

Mr. Morgan believed deeply in Reading and in the potential of every Blue Devil. That spirit of support continues today through the dedication and generosity of his sister Vivian and his daughter Abby, who carry forward his love for our programs and our students.

The Reading Blue Devil family is forever grateful for Richard Morgan’s voice, his heart, and his lasting legacy.
