Reading Students Explore Their Futures During 2026 College & Career Day

Reading Community City Schools connected classroom learning with future opportunities during its 2026 College & Career Day on Thursday, October 15. Through industry tours, pathway exploration, career conversations, and workshops, students explored potential careers and practiced skills that will help them take their next steps after high school.

Sophomores participated in industry tours, stepping into workplaces to learn about careers and see how classroom skills apply on the job. These visits gave students a closer look at workplace expectations and the education, training, and credentials needed to pursue different opportunities.

Freshmen explored the various pathways offered at Reading, learning about courses and hands-on experiences available throughout high school. The activities helped students connect their interests with opportunities they can pursue as they plan their high school experience and prepare for life after graduation.

For juniors and seniors, the day featured speed mentoring and a resume and interview workshop. Small-group conversations with professionals gave students opportunities to ask questions about career journeys, workplace expectations, and advice for getting started. Students then switched activities so both grade levels could participate in mentoring and career preparation.

Seniors also had the opportunity to continue those conversations through lunch-and-learn sessions with participating companies, allowing them to explore an area of interest in greater depth.

College & Career Day supports Reading’s commitment to helping every student develop a realistic, supported plan for life after graduation. Whether students are considering entering the workforce, pursuing technical training, or attending a two- or four-year college, these experiences help them make informed decisions about their futures.

Reading Community City Schools thanks the businesses, community partners, and professionals who shared their time and expertise. A special thank-you goes to the district’s counseling team, teachers, and staff whose planning, coordination, and support made these opportunities possible for students.
