Screenings

Hearing Screening

Hearing screenings are performed annually for any new students to the district and all students in preschool, kindergarten, first, third, fifth, ninth and eleventh grades. If a teacher or guardian has concerns regarding a student's hearing not in these grades, they may request a screening. If a student does not pass their hearing screen, they will be retested.  If they do not pass a second time, guardians will be notified and further testing is recommended.

Vision Screening

Vision screenings are performed annually for any new students to the district and all students in preschool, kindergarten, first, third, fifth, seventh, ninth and eleventh grades. Students who do not pass the vision screen are rescreened.  If there is still a question regarding the results, parents or guardians are contacted and further testing is recommended.

Results of your child's screenings will be sent from our Electronic Charting System, SchoolCare and are always viewable through your account.

If a parent or guardian wishes to have a child screened in a grade other than those listed, they are encouraged to contact the school nurse.

If a child is unable to be tested due to cognitive, physical, or behavioral concerns guardians will be notified and routine testing is recommended with additional resources.

If a parent or guardian would like to refuse testing, they must contact the School Nurse to fill out a refusal form.
