Kindergarten Registration

Welcome to Reading Community City Schools! We are excited to welcome you and your family. Kindergarten is an important first step in your child’s school experience, and we are happy to support you through the registration process.

 

This page shares important information, required forms, and steps to help you register your child for kindergarten.

 

Online Kindergarten Registration opens in February

We encourage families to register as early as possible.

 

Kindergarten Age Eligibility Update

Families planning for kindergarten are encouraged to review important updates to age requirements.

 

Your child may start kindergarten if they are 5 years old on or before the first day of school for Kindergarten students.

 

Starting with the 2026–2027 school year, all Ohio school districts will follow the same kindergarten age cutoff. This change is required by House Bill 114.

 

Families may choose to wait until their child is 6 years old if they feel their child is not ready.

Kindergarten Registration Procedures

To register your child for kindergarten:

  1. Complete all required forms in FinalForms.
  2. Upload all required documents directly into FinalForms. We cannot accept documents by email.
  3. If you are unable to upload documents, you may fax them to 513-483-6754.

 

Documents You Must Provide

Parents/guardians must provide the following:

  • Parent/guardian driver’s license or state ID
  • Child’s birth certificate
  • Immunization records
  • Updated physical
  • Proof of residency (see accepted documents below)
  • If applicable, please also provide:
    • Court custody documents
    • Individualized Education Plan (IEP)

 

Proof of Residency Options

You must provide one of the following:

  • Homeowner Deed: A copy of the deed or a printout from the county auditor showing the parent or guardian as the homeowner
  • Current Rental or Lease Agreement: Must be current, signed by the landlord and tenant, include landlord contact information, and be submitted with an **Affidavit from the City of Reading
  • Residency Affidavit: For families living with a Reading resident. This form must be signed and notarized by the owner of the property and submitted with an  **Affidavit from the City of Reading.

Extra Residency Requirement

Families who live on Burkhart Street or Chaucer (ZIP code 45237) must also provide a utility bill in the parent or guardian’s name.

 

When Registration Is Complete

Registration is not complete until all forms and documents are uploaded and approved.

Required Kindergarten Forms

The following forms are required:

  • Physical Form – You may use the district form or one from your doctor
  • School Immunizations Form – downloadable form includes required immunizations, may provide immunization record from physician.
  • A doctor’s immunization record is also accepted
  • Ohio Health History Form
